About The Program
The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Archaeology is a comprehensive four-year programme designed to systematically build a student’s expertise from foundational principles to advanced practical application. The first year establishes a solid groundwork with introductory courses on the discipline and its history. The curriculum then progresses in the second and third years to explore specialized core areas with a significant focus on the South Asian and Sri Lankan contexts, covering subjects such as Art History, Pre & Proto Historic Archaeology, Epigraphy, Numismatics, and Cultural Property Conservation. The final year is heavily oriented towards professional practice and research, requiring students to engage in Field Archaeology, understand archaeological ethics, utilize digital tools, and undertake a vocational internship.
