Registration for Degrees

•  The following courses are conducted by this University for awarding Degrees.  The students selected for higher education based on the results of the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) Examination will be registered for the First Examination in Arts.  Subsequently, they are admitted to either for B.A. (General) or B.A. (Special) Degree courses.  All expenses for conducting these courses together with other related expenditure will be borne by the Government under its free education policy.

First Degree Courses

• Bachelor of Arts (General) Degree Programme: 03 Years
• Bachelor of Arts (Special) Degree Programme: 04 Years

Registration for Courses

• Every student selected for admission to the University should be registered first as an internal student of the University.   Subsequently, at the commencement of each academic year, the registration should be renewed.  The registration of the first-year students who do not attend lectures for a period of one month from the commencement of the academic year will be cancelled.
• If a student who has been registered is not in a position to attend lectures due to serious ill health, that should be informed to the Medical Officer of the University following which, by a letter addressed to the Dean of the relevant Faculty with the recommendation of the Medical Officer, he/she may apply for deferment of that registration for the next year.  On the recommendation of the relevant Faculty Board, the Senate of the University will take a suitable decision on that request.
• With the first registration, every student will be issued a Student Record Book which must be kept safely.  Students are required to pay fees and other charges for first registration as well as for extensions of registration in each academic year.  Late applications will be rejected.
• Students are advised to obtain information on syllabuses and combination of subjects with respect to each course.
• Students are also advised to seek clarifications from the respective Heads of the Departments if they encounter any problems in the selection of subjects.
• If it is revealed that any internal student is following a fulltime course conducted by a Higher Educational Institute during the academic period of this University, his/her studentship will be cancelled.
